Oh my GOD !! You must be bummed. What an incredible deal for a low hours tractor and all those attachments. You must be kicking yourself in the butt big time !! Of course you never know if something was wrong with it. Almost sounds too good to be true.

Vic

It certainly seemed like a very good deal. But as you say, it might have had a reason for the low price.

My concerns on HST vs EHSS are several. I don't like running my engine at 2200 RPM all the time. Sometimes I sit in neutral at the loader pile just long enough to figure where to put the next bucket full. Another scary issue is hydraulic contamination. Hyd. fluid is the life blood of the machine. Would you hook a log splitter with 300 hour oil in it to your back remotes? Would you hook your buddies log splitter to your remotes. Same goes for the B/H. Should you change all of the oil in all of the atachments at the same time.

No problem, I do this all the time. Just "flush" the oil out of the device you are hooking up to and add some new fluid to your hydraulic reservoir. Works fine. I have done this on a preseeder and a snow blower. I cannot see why it owuld be a problem on a log splitter. Also, the same non-issue would exist for any non-HST machine.

If you do a lot of loader work, then 2200 rpm to have the advantages of HST is worth it. I have an EHSS on my TN70A. I love the EHSS for many reasons. I do little work with my pallet forks. If I did a lot of work with pallet forks, I would want an HST. I like the EHSS since I can motor along at 1500 rpm in top gear and that helps fuel use.

2200 RPM is nothing in a machine with clean oil and clean fuel. The engines are designed to run at those rpms. When I pulled a 3-bottom plow last week, I was running at 2300 rpm for hours.

Pick the tranny that suits your needs.
