Plow size for Ford 1300

Hi, I'm new to the board and this is my first post. I have a Ford 1300 4wd, 16hp diesel, that weighs around 2100 lbs w/o any attachments other than my FEL. I had about 3/4 of an acre of level land cleared last year for a garden and am looking to set up my tractor with a plow so I can grow a vegetable garden. The Ford dealers manual that I have says that the tractor can be fitted with a 1 bottom model/101 moldboard plow in either the 14, 16 or 18". I've found a Howse 1-14" and it will fit my tractor, but with the red clay and rocks here, I think it would be difficult to use. I have been looking for a used low profile cat 1, 1-12" moldboard to use for my tractor. I'm new to using a plow, and figured that if I got a plow that the tractor can easily handle, it would make for a better job with less stress on the operator and equipment. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

Welcome to the forum! I'm surprised your manual says you can go up to 18" I have a 16" that I used to use on my Massey 50 which handled it easily but when I tried it on my 18hp Yanmar it struggled with it. One thing about most compact tractors is that they don't have draft control so you have to fiddle with the controls to maintain depth. I found that setting it up is kind of important. I block up my tractor to the depth I want to plow and then adjust the top link so the plow is not pulling down or riding up as it slides thru the ground. If this is a first time plow job on recently cleared land, you might have more trouble than you will next year. Good luck!

I just picked up a 12" single bottom for a friend of mine. It is made by a company in Ohio called International. International does not have a web site. I found the same plow on the Work Saver site. The International model was $225.
Lienbach also has a 12" single bottom plow they don't show it on there site, but you can see them on Ebay at Tarheel tractors store.

Thank you. I've searched for a while trying to find a 12" low profile. The prices look good. Some of the used ones I have looked at were about the same price as the new ones listed. The links you suggested look like it's exactly what I'm looking for. I'll give them a call. Thanks again.
