Plowing With B2710

Anyone use their B2710 for plowing? How much plow will it handle? I have an old 2-14 that I use to plow the garden with. I used an old WD Allis last year. Sorry to say the Allis died and I haven't gotten around to fixing it. So I was wondering if the Kubota could handle it or do you think I might damage the tractor? I can borrow a 54" tiller where I work. Maybe it would be better to just till the garden this year.

Your B2710 shouldn't have a problem plowing snow at all,front or rear blade.

I use a B7100 w/a 6' front plow never had a problem pushing the plowing or push the snow banks to new levels..also finding my mailbox. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Did you plan on useing a front or a rear plow setup,and do you have a front end loader.

I would try your plow. If your garden is in the same place, place you plowed previously with the Allis, the ground should be worked enough for the 2710 to plow it. Just take it nice and slow, the wheels should spin before you damage anything on the tractor. If the tractor won't pull it, you could try removing one of the bottoms on the plow.

Thomas, Sounds like Bobinmn is talking about a garden, not snow.

Bob, My dealer told me my 2710 could handle a small set of disks but he did not say how small; he also seemed a bit hesitant on the topic. I guess my short answer is that I don't know about the plow. I would like to try using a single bottom plow to facilitate drainage on some of my low areas but am approachig this cautiously. It sounds like using a tiller might be your safest approach.

Let us know what you come up with. I would like to recondition some of our horse pasture and am wondering what the best method will be. I'm guessing just scarify the surface w/ a york rake, seed, and roll the area with a yard roller.

Yep..guess your right.

Just coming out of the winter mold of plowing snow and cabin fever up here,and plowing a garden won't be for another month an half..could get a snow dumping at anytime. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Bob, I don't know what you soil is like, but with my black clay, the B2710 would handle a single bottom plow just fine; no way would it have pulled a 2-14 (unless perhaps set very, very shallow). I wouldn't worry about hurting the tractor; just that you may only spin your wheels.

what do you think of the 2710 pulling a small set of disks? I saw some at the local TSC store and thought that they would work well to flatten the ground where the horses have punched through the wet ground. If I could smooth the ground a bit I would feel better about putting more pasture mix in to reguvenate them a bit.

They are adjustable so I could set them so there would not be much drag; although then I guess I would be making more passes.

Sorry, but I can't help you; no experience with the disks. I looked at those same disks myself several times and thought seriously about buying them. I think they would be handy, but the question is whether they are heavy enough to cut into my kind of ground (maybe multiple passes?), and of course, if you add enough weight for them to do the job, will the B2710 pull it. Just don't know.
