I'm having a slight plumbing problem with my NH TC29D ....

The trouble is with the hydraulic hoses that were added by the dealer to power a Woods 7500 backhoe. When the backhoe is removed, the two hoses on the tractor get hooked together to complete the circuit. Problem is - these hoses make a nice loop that interferes with the three point hitch.

Anyone got a "Best practice" recommendation or general thoughts on the subject?

Woods tech support suggested the aux tank and three point pump for the hoe which eliminates these hoses. I don't suppose that will cost anything ....

Thanks for any thoughts on the subject

I don't understand everything here, bphillips. You say the hoses interfere with your 3pt hitch. Do you mean physical interference (they get in the way of...) or do you mean the hydraulics don't work properly? In the first case, you could add a temporary hose section between the connections to route the hose around physical interference. In the second case, why not leave the hoses disconnected? Are they quick-attach types? I'm just puzzled as to what exactly is the problem. Maybe someone else understands.

It's a physical interference with the arms of the three point hitch. The dealer's origional installation involved a bracket welded to the inside of the ROPS that held one of the quick connects. When the long hose from the hoe was plugged in to this connector, the three point arms would come down right on the connectors. Not pretty... The tractor went back to the dealer and the bracket was moved to the outside of the ROPS. Now the hose is routed between the ROPS and the rear wheel. When the three point hitch is fully raised, the hydraulic hose loop rubs on the lower locator arms of the 3PTH. Also, I'm not too happy with the new bracket location in relation to the rear tire as I run chains in the winter and a broken link in the chain may just decide to remove the entire hydraulic system @ 2100 psi.

I guess I'm just looking for some bracket / fittings / adapter / something suggestions to make this a cleaner / safer / more reliable "hookup"

Thanks for your thoughts

Now I have the picture and I'm inclined to say, "Oh boy! What a mess." (I guess I did say it.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif) I know when something is out of my class, so I'm going to graciously back out of this one and defer to the other experts on the forum who might be able to offer you more constructve advice than I can. Sorry I can't be more help.

Brad,
I had a problem with my PB lines for my backhoe.also. The way that I handled it was to put a directional control valve on the hose ends and then a short piece of hose with quick connects on them. By using the valve, you can do away with the hose loop. The oil is looped internally in the valve. The valve is Energy Manufacturing item. The part number is B-1174, I think. Check it out at http://www.energymfg.com in the Directional Control Valves and Accessories section on page #5. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Can you just use a shorter hose? I don't have a problem with interference on my TC 33 w/ an NH bhoe. Having offerred this suggestion, let me also add that I actually lengthened the hoses to my bhoe from what the dealer installed because it was just too darn 'tight' installing the backhoe.

Hi JerryG,
I looked at the control valve on the web site you posted, but I'm sure I don't understand the hookup. I've got two hoses coming from the hoe and two from the tractor, but I think the valve has three ports. I'm confused, however a control valve solution sounds like it would be very "clean". Any further explanation would be much appreciated.

TIA

Brad,
Here is a diagram of how the valve is set up. I have mine setup so that when the knob is down the flow is a loop, when the knob is up the flow goes to the quick disconnect.
Everyone YOU CAN’T use this as an alternative to a control valve, it is just a flow diverter.

Thanks for your thoughts - the NH dealer and I decided the solution was a remote valve kit. The dealer picked up the tractor on Thursday and had it back in the yard when I returned from a trip on Saturday about noon time. The installation is clean with no extra hose hanging around to get damaged and everything seems to work fine.

I'm hoping this case is closed....
