Bringing a drain around the perimeter of the room and don't want to bring it in to high, nor too low.

The bottom edge (edge of the porcelain) of the lavatory is right at 25". Looks like most P-traps (horizontal) carry the water away at 'about' the same height of the top lip of them. In other words, you only lose a fraction of an inch of drop height from the point of attachment to the point of entry into the wall.

Is it fair for me to think the tailpiece that extends through the drain is about 10" in length?

Although I was just at the store, I forgot to look. Aside from forgetting about it while there, none of theirs will work anyway, I need to get an Oil Rubbed Bronze tailpiece and P-trap to match the fancy faucets she's buying /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm trying to figure out, with the exit hole of the lavatory at 25", what height I want to target the hole in the wall for the drain connection.

Seems it's all contingent on how long the tailpiece is, any thoughts/wisdom?

The standard rough in is 19" from the floor. You should have a drain with a pop up for the lav. It comes with the tail piece that can be cut to length. The safest bet is to have the complete fixture and drain on site to measure since you are having to use such a unique color. An extension tube would be very hard to come by in that finish. Oh. I am a lisc. plumber for 25yr. Hope this helps.

It helped a GREAT deal! Thanks! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif The 19" was what i was looking for.

That said, I THINK the drain assembly she's looking at doesn't have a pop up per se' (with the lever & stem going through the faucet... our faucet is going to be wall mounted) The pop up she's looking at is akin to a cork /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It's a push/pull I think and is permanantly affixed to the drain. I'm not sure I like the kind you have to reach into the water to open the drain but fortunately for me, she's doing the picking.

The 19" number is based on a standard 32" high vanity or wall hung sink. You are describing a vessel sink, that sits on top of a piece of furniture. If so, you really do need the complete set up to do your measuring. ( faucet location also) It may slow the proccess but it will be worth the wait.

Yes I agree. I'm going to try to order the parts today so I can get the ball rolling. I can't finish this drain pipe until I have the height set. I can't finish the walls until I finish the drain pipe, I can't line the shower until I finish the walls, I can't install the lights/fans until I finish the walls......

You get the idea /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just curious - is the 19" from the bottom of the finished floor a measurement taken from the center of the drain pipe?

Most all plumbing rough in measurements are to center. You might be able to get a rough in drawing from the supplier of your fixtures. I wouldn't cover up any of your work until you had the fixture to check with, but you could at least be doing some work while you wait.
