Pneumatic Framing Nailer - What Size Fasteners?

I just purchased a nailer to help build an equipment shed. What is the equivalent nailer size for the standard 16d framing nail? The lengths I see most often for the framing nailer are 2 5/8", 3", 3 1/4" and 3 1/2". The diameters are .113, .120, .131 and .148. Just a little confused, hope you can help. Also is there one general purpose size that might reduce the number of different sizes I would have to purchase? Thanks Jimmie E.

I bought 2-1/2" for 1/2" plywood and 3-1/4" for 2 X 4"s etc and I have a coil nailer made by Bostich.
Lots of other nails will work in your nailer, they don't have to be brand specific, check the box good

The .131 x 3-1/2" are the common 16d pneumatic nail. The 3-1/4" or 12d are more commonly used for framing. The .148 is far less common around here. You will notice the .131 are a thinner shank than common hand nails. 2-3/8" are what are usually sold for 8d sheathing nails. Some manufacturers have designated the 3-1/4" nail as a 16d or 16d short. I think Hitachi used to do that.

I use the 3-1/4" so when you shot through a double stud it doesn't pop though. I hate when you grab a double and slid over the nails!!!
