At least the puppies have a chance at being adopted into a loving home now. I'm sure they didn't get any attention living with that man.

I heard about this on the TV news the other day. I wondered about the other side of the story. Apparently in many animal shelters, more animals are euthanized than are adopted. Was this guy really a criminal for euthanizing them himself instead of sending them to an institution to have it done? This is another case for encouraging spaying and neutering of pets.

It is a sad situation. Some shelters don't euthanize any animals. But most are simply overwhelmed by the numbers and have no other choice. They do not have the funds or space to keep them. Spaying and neutering is the obvious answer. But how to get people to do that on a large scale? I wish I had that answer. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I am a great fan of dogs and would NEVER do anything like this. However, a felony charge might be a bit extreme as well. Many people have killed puppies in the past. Is this a president to set? I will take my lumps now, but remember I did say that I do not condone or support this type of activity. I love dogs and would never do this.

Where I work at my regular job, we have a lot of cats. Recently people have been feeding them. Unfortunatly, now they hang around and become somewhat tame. Ofcourse we have the little hoodlum types in mens bodies that think it's cool to abuse and torture these animals. Although both factions may be equally guilty of doing the wrong thing, the pukes that abuse these animals aren't fit to share the earth as the rest of us. Somehow, I became the one to offer to trap these cats and try to get them to a decent family. One of these lowlifes thought it was great sport to throw nuts and bolts at these cats. He managed to nail a beautiful tiger, semitame by the way, in the back with a 1'X3" bolt. Great white hunter eh!

It was announced via email that if anyone wanted to adopt a cat to contact me and I'd trap it for them. Since then, we got a private animal control outfit in to help out. They don't like to put the animals down anymore than me. But it's the only thing you can do with an adult feral cat. The kittens are another story. This outfit has contacted me several times about what they trap and I try to help them out, but there is just too many. If only they hadn't been feeding them I don't think we'd have this problem.

The piece of dirt that hit the one with the bolt? Many of us entertained doing the same to him.

Don't anyone dare concider me a treehugger or anything related. My wife and I rescue dogs and cats more times than I really want, but it is hard to say no to any animal. If only more people could become as humane as these socalled animals. Get your critters spayed/nuetered, and become responsible adults if you happen to have an accident, don't let them suffer. Animal abusers should get the same punishment as he doled out on an innocent animal.

Another thought I should add, I support hunting/fishing and all the shooting sports. But notice I said sports, if an animal is to be taken, do it humanely.

My head is on the chopping block!
First thing i do support and recommend spayed/neutered.
I see what this guy has done more tolerable than hunting and fishing for the sake of sport. this man in my view was trying to humanely depose of unwanted animals.
I believe he had a justifiable purpose that hunting and fishing simply for sport does not have. SORRY! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Vin; No worry mate, everyone is welcome to their own opinion. Your probably not alone in thinking the way you are.
But we all have opinions, just read what comes around on this site! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
