Hey, just wanted to drop a pointer over to my 425 available in the TBN classifieds.

Hope your winters have been good with lots of shop time fabbing new attachments.

Chris
Sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your 425, I recall you getting it and I have wondered about how everything worked out for you. Hope your next tractor works out more to your satisfication and that the place where you get it is easier to work with. Hope also that from time to time that you will still drop by and let us know how things are going with you.

I forgot about Chris' story. Didn't you have your robin engine smoke itself with like 2.5 hours on the clock, and then had difficulties getting PT or Robin to help you? Not to dig up bad memories, but whatever ended up happening? I don't think you ever posted the final outcome.

On about page three of the below thread I followed up with almost the end of the saga. On it's second run to the shop it was just the air filter fouled with engine oil by the first set of engine issues.

http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/power-trac/107255-bad-power-trac-experience.html

I'm not impressed with the units, really unimpressed with PowerTrac as a company. I'd rather take a bit of a loss and have it go to a good home than send them more $ for attachments.

It will do the mowing job that was my main/regular task for it and admittedly it does it quickly, but so would a $2,500 atv tow behind DR brush mower.

I could go on a three page rant about why (in addition to PowerTrac the company being a business I don't want to do commerce with) this product is not up to the standards I expected, but right now it would just rile me up (I'll save that post for a rainy day). Long and short, I really enjoy mowing, but at this point just seeing the 425 ticks me off and is spoiling one of my productive let off stress/escape work/reality fun time activities (mowing). Even if nothing more went wrong with it for a long time I dunno that I can get over these relationship hurdles that I've had with this little tractor and learn to love it again.

I stick by my original line in that post linked above "My PowerTrac experience: Avoid them like the plague." However if someone knows they want one, save a pile of bucks and get it slightly used.

Thanks for the well wishes Toy! I might be here for a while, I'll be using her till she sells. Might be tomorrow, might be 2025. :)

I think you should have some pictures with your ad, we all know what they look like but the next person may not
Just a thought
:)

I can understand your feelings. If my PT422 had died immediately after I got it, I would be pretty upset myself. Especially if the manufacturer deomonstrated zero motivation to help me solve the problem. Fortunately, I have had alot more luck with my PT (other then the PTO solenoid being DOA).

I must say that your you were very restrained and gentlemanly in the referenced thread; I know that I would probably have been ranting and raving by the end.

Sometimes it is important to avoid throwing good money after bad, and when your personal experiences lead you to loose faith in a manufacturer, it is time to move on.

I would recommend posting some pictures on your classified add. I would also recommend you let your add run here for a bit before you do something drastic like ebay it; I know that several of us have bought used PTs from classified adds here (I almost did).

I bought mine on Ebay, so they do get exposure on there.

Just make sure you have a reserve on it.

Pictures are an excellent idea, and probably my second step. I figured someone already looking at them in this forum or familiar with them from net research might stumble on it. Adds with no pics are free, if that fails to work my second step will be similar add, but more text and photos. Third step might be ebay, life is pretty busy at the moment, so we will see if I get that far before the spring really busy work season kicks in.

Who knows maybe it can redeem itself if it fails to sell by summer and I get some hours on it. I'm skeptical, but maybe. I think there are a pile of modifications I'd want to make before really using it and I'd rather sell it stock than modified.

I'm hoping it grows on you. I had a car one time that while I was paying on it I hated it but after I got it paid for my thoughts changed about it and I began to like the car. Too bad though about two months after I got it paid for a teenage girl hit me head on and totaled it.
