The ATV will not idle in reverse gear and just stalls out when you put gear in reverse. Always works in Low and High, stalls in reverse only 50% of the time. One day reverse works well next day will not work at all? Being warm or cold does not seem to matter. Any ideas on what to look at?

i had a 125 honda fourtax that would do something like that .it was the reverse gear inside the crank case that had a broken tooth. it would work sometimes and sometimes it would kill the engine because the broken tooth would get lodged in the gears.get a shop manual before disasembling it it will come in handy because them gears stack up in there and got springs too and if you go tearin into it without noticeing a missing part or even a part might be broken and you can't tell until you look at the manual to see what it looked like new.

the gears inside are very close together so even if a tooth is chipped just a little bit it can still lock up an engine .maybe take off the cover and just turn the gears slowly and check them . the peice that was lockin up my engine was the size of a diamond chip not even a carrot maybe like a 1/4 carrot in size. check that gear oil for fragments too.
