Brett,
My 50 acre property is rectangle shaped, with the long sides of the rectangle both sloping in towards the center of my place. (Makes it real nice to catch water for my stock tanks) Anywho, it would be my opinion that you'd want to have an even pad for putting your pole barn up on, especially if you're going to pour a pad for it. I know that I had to even mine out before I ever put up my barn. I had to take a number of loads of dirt from the backside of the dam of a new section of one of my stock tanks, and spread that out to level out the area where I put mine up.
I have a neighbor who just put one up anout 9 months ago and did not do that. He has uneven 1-4 foot gaps at the bottom of his barn, all the way around it. Looks bad to me, and it a real problem to him. He does not plan to concrete the floor either.
WiJC,
