Does anyone have any experience digging a pond in Central Florida. I realized that this project is bigger than I want to tackle with my equipment, but need some advice.
I just had my pond re-dug (is that a word).... I am in southeast Florida... the pond is about 20 years old... we had it dug for free the first time... the company took the fill and stocked it with fish for free... over the years it had gone from 10 feet deep to under six.... I had a guy come in and take 3 inches all the way around.... cost was $200 and I kept the fill dirt. This is a small pasture pond about half a football field lond and 25 - 30 yards wide. Best place to get information woudl be your county agricultural agent.... if its a new pond you will half to consult the water management district before you can get a permit. ( this is not like ignoring a county permit requirement to build a pole barn, so don't even consider diging a pond without one)
Just came across this post, don't know if you have done anything yet about your pond. I started digging mine in Sarasota with a FEL and box blade on a NH 1925, but gave up and rented a hydraulic excavator. The ground quickly got too wet to drive the tractor in. The excavator made the job really easy and was a lot of fun as well.
