My father in law was kind enough to let me use his TD-10 and an operator to dig my 100'x90'x10'deep pond. The operator got a good start monday almost completing 62'x60' shop pad

Tues. morning had a few showers the operator decided it was too wet to continue and headed back home. Sunshined all day long until 1600hrs then the skies opened up.. ~4" rain in 2 hours = pond full and its only 20% dug

At the far side of the pond you can see the "white water rapids" flowing into the pond... I tried to make a couple of small dams to slow the incoming water, afraid I was a little too late..

May I should consider building an Ark instead of a house and shop :(

We haven't had a decent rain here in more than a month. I could make it rain by washing my truck or starting to dig a pond.

Gotta love the new-fangled rain dances, eh?

Yep, a massive pump would sure be the trick there. Did you see Eddie's post about building his lake? If I'm not terribly mistaken he dug trenches to drain for just this occaision then filled them in. Or mabye I just dreamed that. I read the 30+ pages of posts in a few days. Anyway, that may not be feasible for you, but it might be another option.

Last night I sprayed about $150 worth of chemicals on some nasty weeds. It hasn't rained here in weeks, so I figured I was safe. Went in side for a drink, came back out to see just enough rain to wash off the chemicals, not enough to grow the grass. Figures. :(

My brother-in-law has a 8hp 3" or 4" water pump he uses on his pond I am going to borrow it when/if the rain ever stops. The pump runs off gas so there goes 100 or so bucks in fuel down the drain.... Anybody wanna bet how much rainfall I will get when the pond is finished???

I hear ya on spraying chemicals, I have been trying to get the fence line under control for quite a while, some old diesel and roundup has it knocked down for now but with all the rain it will come back stonger than ever.

Really, diesel works for that? Are there environmental concerns? I'm willing to try about anything. My next option is to rip out the fence and do some weeding by box blade! :)

The little diesel I used was over 5 years old mixed with round up I believe it help work as a surfactant (s/p?).. I would not pay ~3.00 a gallon to spray good diesel. Do search on the forum here, there is lot of good info. on how to get rid of grass/weeds and the harder to kill vines, poison ivy, woody stemmed problems. There is even a generic "roundup" sold a feedstore at a fraction of the cost of the name brand stuff.

I tell you, putting diesel or even better, used transmission or hydraulic oil will kill anything you put it near.

But I didn't tell you to do this, nor am I saying it is safe, just telling you it will kill them ;)
