SO is anyone having problems with pop up adds on this site?? I had Dell Premium Support do some work on my computer about a week ago. Now I am seeing adds in between posts and on the sides! Never use to see them. I do have 2 Stop Pop Up Add programs running but I still see them!

I have all sorts of ads when using my iphone or tablet. Nothing on my laptop though.

Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself. ;)

I have Ad Block Plus here on my computer. I get ONE sidebar ad when a thread is opened. Nothing more. Ha, ha - I went to TBN on my iPhone once. That was enough - tiny keys, small keyboard, midget screen. Life is too short for that type of misery.

The advertisements started to crowd out TBN on my Apple Mac about two years ago. It happened simulaneous (same weekend) with an site upgrade by the TBN owners, so I thought that might have something to do with it - and maybe it did. Or not.... I don't know. Whether it did or whether it was just a portent of things to come, it's with us now.

The self-serving advertisements vary with the hour, day, and week. They do get worse everytime I upgrade the OS or do system changes to my computer. Right now there is not an adv. on the screen. But that is not from anything I did. When I signed in this moring there was targeted adv. all the way down the right side, & top & bottom.

It's another battle between gov't regulation and corporate greed - with guess who caught right in the middle.

Voiceless,

Aaaannnddd....they are back! I went to the TBN private message forum, posted a message to a friend, and when I get back 12 minutes later the ads are all up and down the right side.
This group of ads is from Adobe.
And now Home Depot.
And now Microsoft.

I think I may keep a list. If someone else does we can compare & see just who the advertisements are from. Not sure what good that would do, but maybe someone else can figure that part out.

I wonder what websites make from selling my screen space to their advertisers? Any idea??

yooper,

Sounds like "Dell Premium Support" has gone into your add blocking apps and changed the settings. You need to go back in and take that part of the "fix" they gave you, back.

I use "Add Blocker Plus", an add-on, to my Firefox web browser. Right out of the box it won't block ALL adds, you have to go into the app's settings and "turn off" ALL ads. Then it will do exactly what it advertises and you won't have ANY ads on this site.

I use Win 10 and Edge. No ad blocking software. As long as I am signed in the only ad I ever see is the single ad on the right side at the top, which changes from time to time. Today it is Home Depot.
