I made up this recipe last nite; it was awesome!

Four thick cut center pork chops
Lemon
Salt
fresh cracked/ground Pepper
Dry Mustard
Garlic powder
Large jar/can Sauerkraut

Squeeze lemon over chops. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, dry mustard, and garlic powder. Place upside down on plate or marinade container. Do same thing for second side. Let sit for 15-20 minutes.

Heat a skillet(use a large skillet that will accept a lid), add a little butter to minimize sticking. Brown chops lightly on both sides. Pour sauerkraut over the browned chops. Bring to a low gentle simmer and cover. Slow simmer till chops are done.

Place the chops on your plate, and cover generously with the cooked, slow simmered kraut .

I used four chops; the ones we had were large and that's all that would fit in the skillet... It worked out that the proportion of chops to sauerkraut was perfect though

Yummy.

You might want to think about posting this over on the Cooking & More Forum of CountryByNet.

Sounds REALLY good Robert! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Pork, regardless of whether it's chops or a roast, with sauerkraut is one of my favorites! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

But you know what? It'll taste even BETTER in a dutch oven! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You know, we talked about that at dinner, dutch oven... We have another Boy Scout campout coming up; maybe that's what the leaders will have for dinner /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have done something similar to this before, but instead of sauerkraut, I used stewed tomatoes. It is good too, although the sauerkraut last nite was really yummy!

Well, if your leaders are anything like mine were, they'll absolutely LOVE a brand new recipe to try out. It almost became a competition on every campout to see who could show up with the best new recipe.

Regardless of who tried what, it ALWAYS resulted in good eats! Even when there were failures. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I just love pork chops and sauerkraut. The wife makes that dish a few times a year, BUT

I have to sleep in the guest room for the night /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Sounds like a pretty good receipe! I'll be trying it out soon.

If anyone is interested, today I discovered and ordered a new commemorative Lewis and Clark bean pot made by Camp Chef. These are pre-orders and a pretty good deal IMHO. There are 2006 being made, and are numbered. Normally 99.99 but now only 49.99 with free shipping (the site says the price goes up 6/15 but at the IDOS forum that I learned of this, seems something was said about the price or shipping or something changing in a couple of days so I ordered today). You can put 'IDOS' in the "coupon" space and get another $5 off. So I've got this 5 1/2 qt cool looking pre seasoned bean pot coming for $44.99 total. All I have now is 4 dutch ovens so this will be a useful addition to my outdoor cooking collection.

That sounds good. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm gonna try it.

We recently rubbed some pork chops with powdered hidden valley ranch dressing mix, then baked them in a buttered pan. Served over some buttery noodles or pasta. Mmmm.

We'll marinate thick cut pork chops in Italian salad dressing and then grill them. We also take a bunch of the those red new potatoes and throw them into one of those foil baking bags with some onions, a little canola oil, and seasoning (basically garlic salt and pepper) and cook those on the grill at the same time.

When served, it's just like eating out on a campout! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Edit: Go figure. I hit my 4,000th post by talking about eating! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
