Porkuapines in Central Texas?

I grew up in Central Texas & was outdoors a lot. Never ran across or heard about anyone seeing porcupines back then, a couple of generations ago. We have friends that live outside of Kerrville that have reported seeing & trapping them. anyone else?

I killed one in Mason last year. I don't see them often.

I saw one here in Austin last year dead on the road.

 

[Rocksprings]

See one now and then around Rocksprings, Tx. which is near Kerriille. I shoot them because I run cattle and have a dog who thinks he can fight anything.
