Milwaukee power tools are now owned by a company in Hong Kong. They manufacture few things here anymore and I believe that list will quickly get shorter. So now, not only are the chinese getting money from manufacturing, they are also getting the money from the sales.
The most confusing company to me now is Ridgid, many layers of corporations to find out that it is a similar circumstance. I have a few older ridgid power tools from back when Metabo was making a lot of their stuff and they were made in Germany and quite nice. I am going to be in the market for a new cordless drill soon, and have not yet decided which route to go. Probably will Dewalt or Metabo. I am not too fond of milwaukee tools anymore. I will also agree with the Makita statement, I have been quite impressed with the durability and power a new cordless drill we have at work.
More and more companies are like this, if you check them out it is sad to see how much of our money is actually going to China, not just the manufacturing.
