I'm having generator trouble on my 63 JD 1010 diesel. Was thinking replacing it with a alternator but not sure how to hook it for the positive ground system. Any help would be appreciated

If you are going to use an alternator you will need to convert to negative ground.

All you really have to do is switch you battery cables, and install the alternator. If you have an ammeter you will need to switch the wires on it or it will read backwards.

Your starter and lights don't care what polarity the ground is, the will work OK.

Many of the old 6 volt Fords have been converted to 12 volt. I believe, they were positive ground. My NAA had been converted before I got it. However, the voltage reg. or generator quit, so I installed a one wire, 12 volt alternator on it. No regulator needed.
