possible 3016 buyer, suggestions please

Hi all,
I have spent countless hours reading all over TBN and i'm leaning towards a 3016, here's what i'll be doing with it, let me know if you all think i'm buying the right model.
I'm buying 10 acres of flat land with nothing but sage brush. I will be building a shop, a couple other buildings for horse's this year and eventually a house in a few years. So i'll be building a road, fencing, lots of snow removal and who knows what else. I'll be doing lots of grading as the land does have a bit of a slope to it, nothing major. The reasons i like the mahindra is lift capacity, weight, warranty and cost, i will be getting a BH, forks and box blade at purchase. Any suggestions would be great, i want to buy right the first time. Thanks much.

The 3016 sounds like plenty of tractor for your place. Instead of the box blade, I would buy a tooth bar, and a 7' landscape rake with gauge wheels. With your rake fully angled, and tilted you can put a beautiful finish on your road. If you have to build your road from scratch, depending upon the length, it may be cheaper to hire the initial grading work.

I own a 3016 and love it. I have 25 acres, mostly wooded and wanted something small enough to travel through the area but large enough to actually do some work. A lot of what I looked at just seemed too small or way too large. It sounds like the 3016 will do everything you need.

I agree that the first thing I would add is a toothbar. It really made a difference in the grading capabilities. Make sure to have the tires filled. The added weight is necessary for traction.

I am in the process of getting a BoxBlade as I have a large area I want to groom and level. See my signature at the bottom for other equipment I use.

Thanks for the quick replys, good ideas! Tooth bar is definitaly an initail purchase, couple years ago i worked on a Army range building target pits with JD's without tooth bars, made things more difficult. Any suggessions on brands or places to buy from? Also, do you reccommend buying the Mahindra BH or getting a woods?

What elevation are you at? Keep in mind that with a non turbo engine you loose 2% of your engine power for every 1000' of elevation . So depending on your elevation you may actually need the 3616.

These tractors are very nice machines and You will be happy with either of them.

Oh, I agree, fill your tires, the extra weight really does add a lot to the capabilities of the machine.

At a 7500' elevation, I would be looking at something with a turbo. You would end up with only 23.8 hp with the 3016. The 3616 is only going to have 30.6 hp. If you can find a good used 3215 or 3316 (both have a turbo) you will have more power than the 3616.

The box blade and tooth bar are both very good ideas. I do like having a rake also though. Make sure you get a mechanical thumb for the backhoe. I would look at a woods hoe with a thumb. With the power loss a machine with a turbo would probably be a good idea. Check out a ratchet rake also. They seem to work really well.
