2004 Kubota L3130hst
Before I take this complaint to the dealer, I thought I'd see if it was the norm or in fact is a defect.

Since my new L3130 was delivered the height adjusting crank frequently feels like the gears inside are stripped. It has a rough sensation whenever cranking, especially when there is any load on the arms. I have pumped half a tube of grease into it in case it wasn't lubed properly, but this has had no effect. The casing around the crank appears to be a bit loose as well, or at least not rigidly fixed into place. Uncharateristically of the rest of my Kubota, this part feels flimsy an underbuilt.

Does the height adjuster crank smoothly on your Kubota?

I have right at 100 hours now, and it seems to be getting worse, so if this is not the norm, I'd like to see about getting it replaced if it is defective.

Now that I write this I realize I am going to have to go to the dealer to buy the fluids for my 100 service and I'll check to see if the cranks feel the same on the models he has on his lot. I'd still like to hear about your experience with this part.

My 3130 has 96 hrs on it and the crank works very smooth. I use it quite a bit adjusting my box blade. Depending on the weight of the implement I may have to lower the 3pt hitch for adjusting. Mine was a little rough when it was first delivered but once I added grease it became very smooth. Sounds like your gear or threaded rod has some metal slivers inside. I would get it replaced.
