I'm about to purchase a used circa 1962 M-F 50 diesel with 3972 hours on it. It seems to run okay with the exception of running it up to about 2200+ rpm's; then it starts missing like a gasoline engine with worn-out spark plugs. There's no smoke or unusual sounds...just cutting in and out. Admittedly, it needs a new fuel filter, but it concerns me about the "missing" at operating speeds.

Any advice from you good folks?

Also, anything else I should be aware-of should I purchase this machine?

Thanks in advance...Chuck

Chuck,Probably dirty partially clogged injector, also check air filter and as you said fuel filter,You can run some of that stuff everyone else suggests but I don't remember the name ?I'm sure someone will post it for me , BTW how is the power steering? good no leaks I hope..Happy tractoring /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the info...this machine has no power steering, which is okay because it will be a "backup" tractor for my NH TN65 and will also be used for raking hay, brush-hogging, etc.
