Hi all,

WARNING--LONG POST. Standard restrictions apply (i.e., if you don't want to take the time to read it, fine, but please don't take the time to b**** about how long it is. Since you're already smarter than me, you can kindly skip it, without comment, right?)

So...here's my question, in case NO ONE wants to read a long post--the extra info is in there as a matter of courtesy, should anyone want/need to to:

Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket, 42" FORK TINE, that will fit safely and work well on the (out-dated, premium-B series, which ended about 2012) Kubota-proprietary pallet fork frame?

Does anyone have a Kubota-proprietary pallet frame, to sell, with or without 42" forks?

A guy I know has an older "Premium B-series" with the LA403 FEL, and the OLD, Kubota-proprietary "Quick Connect" (i.e., "Q.C.") set-up, to allow you to switch between Kubota's factory-bucket and factory/proprietary-pallet forks by simply removing two "keeper pins" and replacing them.

This is NOT the popular SSQA that is now offered on the current B-series, and I don't even think it's the same as the Kubota-proprietary Quick Connect system offered on the new BX25"D".

The problem is, as far as I can tell, the Kubota-proprietary forks which would work with Kubota's "Q.C." hitch only come in a 1,000lb./36" size. I realize the 1000lb. capacity is not so important, as it's more than the LA403 will lift (though 2,000lb. forks seem a better deal, for half the money, if you got Titan forks, for like $595., off of Amazon, with FREE SHIPPING). PLUS, you could use the 2,000lb.-capacity Titans on the TPH, which would definitely exceed the wimpy, 1,000lb. capacity of the Kubota-proprietary fork tine.

(Or am I missing something? The aftermarket fork tine companies seem to list fork tine capacity by INDIVIDUAL FORK TINE. Is that what Kubota did, and their proprietary system actually lifts 2,000lbs, i.e., 1,000lb. per fork?)

But the REAL problem is the 36" fork length. The 42" fork tine length would be better, to move his Intermediate Bulk Containers more safely and comfortably.

I read the following thread and, almost to a man (and/or a woman?) the preferred length seems to be 42". Some liked 48" but they probably had bigger tractors than a B-series. But IIRC, NO ONE said "I like the 36" fork length." If they did, it was only one or two people. (No need to read it, but I put it here for anyone's easy reference: Pallet fork size - 36", 42" or 48"? http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/owning-operating/301629-pallet-fork-size-36-42-a.html).

So...here's my question
:
Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket, 42" FORK TINE, that will fit safely and work well on the (out-dated, premium-B series, which ended about 2012) Kubota-proprietary pallet fork frame?

Does anyone have a Kubota-proprietary pallet frame, to sell, with or without 42" forks?

Here are the prices and part numbers for these (non-competitive, IMO), outdated, lightweight, Kubota-proprietary forks. The first part number is the "Whole Good Code Number" and the Part Numbers on the right are Kubota's part numbers.

(The weights given are the shipping weights which, when I add them up, do not represent a real savings--at 388lbs., for the Kubota Q.C., Kubota Pallet Frame and Kubota Pallet Fork combo over the aftermarket soultions like an SSQA, with, say, a Titan Pallet Frame with 2,000lb.-capacity forks, for $595., shipping included, off of Amazon--Link: Amazon.com: Titan HD Pallet Fork Attachment 42 Inch for Skid Steers and Tractors: Home Improvement). Of course, you have to add in the 80lb. weight of ATI's SSQA, to the weight of 295lbs.

That 295lbs., plus the ATI SSQA's weight, of 80lbs. = 375lbs.

The Kubota-prorpietary "Q.C." hitch (47lbs). plus Kubota's pallet for frame (165lb.) and pallet forks (176lbs.) = 388lbs..

So the SSQA system ACTUALLY WEIGHS LESS than Kubota's "Q.C." system, plus it's twice as strong.

Here, again, is the pricing. (The stuff in bold/black, he already owns. The stuff in bold/green is stuff he would have to buy).

B2365 Kubota Quick Coupler for LA203 FEL K217B62 (47lbs.) $279.00
B2345 54" Bucket (Pin-on / Kubota Q.C.) K352B56 (125 lbs.) $452.00

B2375 Kubota Q.C. Pallet Fork Frame K496B08 (165lbs.) $636.00
K9048 36 Pallet Forks K317L46 (176lbs.) $407.00

Total Cost to Use Kubota's 36" forks: $ 1,043.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

To Go the SSQA Route, My (Rough) Calculations are as Follows:

ATI Male SSQA WT. 76lb + 4lbs = 80lbs.

ATI Male SSQA: $869.

Fab Work: (Estimated cost: $300.)
__________________________________________
$1,169..
Plus shipping on ATI SSQA, if any? $?

Titan 2,000 Forks (42? for SSQA: $595.
(Free Shipping)

+ 595.
Total Costs for SSQA-route: $1,764.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So while the SSQA-solution cost about $721. more than the cost of using Kubota's propriety "K.C.,". the SSQA plus Titan, etc..., ALSO gets you::

1. 2000lb.-capacity forks, instead of Kubota's 1,000lb. forks
(No, the tractor won't lift 1,000 lb., but the stronger fork seems more appealing, as it could lift more than 1,000. on the TPH).

2. A 42" fork length, which he needs, to move his Intermediate Bulk Containers more safely and comfortably.

3. The SSQA's ability to get a GRAPPLE, (or whatever) in the future.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

So, again, has anyone seen/used a 42" tine that replaces Kubota's (older--2012 and down), proprietary, 36" fork, but fits Kubota's pallat frame?

Does anyone (dealer's included) have a new OR USED Kubota-proprietary pallet frame and fork setup, for significantly-less than retail?
(Because otherwise, it seems to make more sense to go SSQA, for a future grapple, or whatever).

Thanks much!

I would tend to go with the SSQA set up to have better access to any other attachment you might want going forward,

Check with a local tow motor outfit. they should have a good selection of used forks taken off tow motors in factories. they are a wear item and are replaced when worn down. Will your Kubota rack take forks from Clark or Crown tow motors. I have bought the forks at auction and the two sets of forks interchange on my tractor rack. Could be my own dumb luck.
