Background:
I used the quotes around "upgrade" because my BX23 has been such a super machine...but here's the scoop...

Over the last couple of years I've done some snow removal for the local homeowners association with my BX23 and Kubota snowblower. This year the association approached me about doing all 8 miles of gravel roads in the subdivision. The '23 & blower is not up to this task. The association Board of Directors knows this and is prepared to offer me a multi-year contract that would, in essence, pay for much of whatever equipment I buy. I'm looking at skid steers, Toolcats, and tractors.

The question: What's a good "ballpark" estimate for the cost of a GrandL40 5x40 with 72" snowblower? I see Kubota has 0% for 3 years and that's pretty cool. I'd want to get the cab, FEL, and aux hydraulics at least in addition to the blower. BTW, when it's not winter, I'd be using the tractor in a more "agricultural" (ie tree farm) setting.

Thanks in advance for any info,
Kevin

If I was in your position, I would strongly consider the 3pt toolcat. Should become available in Feb 2008. Put a plow on the front and blower in the back. Fantastic for snow removal. Also, the 3 pt would be available for summer work. It would be a combination of skid steer and CUT. Numerous attachments for the front and for 3 pt. With the larger Kubota's, FEL and cab, the price will be close to each other but the toolcat will still be somewhat more. Check out the toolcat discussion. Toolcat will also have a cargo box for carrying tools, shovels etc. So versitile, you may get other summer jobs as well. Bobcat did offer 0% financing last winter.

Downside to the toolcat is less lift capacity for FEL and 3 pt, and less FEL lift height. Toolcat will turn tighter and less overall length. Toolcat will also have less traction for serious pulling but that is probably not an issue in your case. You may need chains on either if the snow is deep.
The size of the kubota maybe an issue on tree farm, depending on its use.

Skid steer will be way to slow for 8 miles, even with 2 speed option.
