What type of hydraulics are needed to run a 3 point post driver?

I am assuming just a power beyond as most driver's I have seen have an actuator lever on them.

Thanks for the help,

Mark

If it has it's own control lever, then the PB will do perfectly. Or you could also use a regular rear remote and bungee the lever open to keep fluid flowing to the driver.

Mark,

I have a Shaver HD-8 that I use on my John Deere 4300. I feed the driver with a power beyond and route the return fluid directly into the sump through the fill per Shaver's recommendations.

Since the power beyond intercepts the feed to the three point hitch, I have a diverter mounted on the driver to toggle between the two functions.

That said, I think that KennyD's suggestion to bungee the third remote might work just as well. The key is to route the return directly to the sump with the least amount of resistance (no quick disconnect) so that it doesn't slow the fall of the driver.

Good call!! I tried to make one easy for a challaged farm and hooked it through the remotes but it did not return the oil fast enough as you stated would happen. They were to lazy to keep the return line whole closed up and ate the hydraulic pump up in the fall when the water froze up in the base of the transmission.

Like Jim and Art have posted, the return flow has to get out fast. If it doesn't, then the hammer doesn't fall as fast as it needs to.
Of course, I don't have to hook the one I have to the hydraulics.:) It is driven off of the PTO. It would be nice to be able to install it on the loader but it does a good job of driving posts anyway.

Thanks for all the responses. I don't have either the driver or the PB yet, just curious. Looks the PB is something I will get soon as I also want a 3 pt log splitter.
