I got a used Shaver HD8 driver. I am adapting the mounting plate to go on my 3PH. Should the frame be on the ground when driving a post?

I got a used Shaver HD8 driver. I am adapting the mounting plate to go on my 3PH. Should the frame be on the ground when driving a post?

When using my driver nothing touches the ground except the post. I notice some models have adjustable legs which extend to the ground.
