Be very careful on spray foam insulation. Open cell is a lot cheaper and what I've seen people do here on metal building. The open cells in the foam hold moisture and the metal starts to rust rather quickly. You have to use closed cell foam on metal buildings!!!!

a few years back, i called around for estimates for spray foam. and got in a few arguments with installers wanting to use open cell foam. needless to say, they where not here long. but overall i will most likely always choose "closed spray foam" for nearly every application.

i always end up some were along the line with "leaks" from air, to water, to bugs, to other when "open cell foam" has been used. i have had issues with mice going through open-cell stuff vs maybe a little scratch in closed cell foam.

============
house wrap. and insulation. while i do like R value high. i do like foil faced hard board insulation. the foil = reflecting radiant like heating either from sun, or from inside the building. seems to help a great deal. noticeable difference vs using no foil what so ever.

We have a little 14 x 24 Morgan Building that we've turned into a cabin down there. I got a couple of the diy foam kits and spray foamed it with closed cell foam and it was worth every penny. Not only did it completely seal it up but it also firmed up the building quite a bit. Before we sprayed the foam, it would literally rain inside that building from condensation on the roof.

For insulating metal buildings, I don't think there is a better alternative to closed cell foam.

Open cell might be 1/2 the cost but it's also 1/2 the R value per inch, so...

Braces as in?

I know I'll need footings, hadn't really calculated that since we'll be pouring a slab and I was doing my concrete costs separately.

Same thing for doors/windows, I have costs for them but their in a separate calculation.

Carriage bolts I do indeed need to put things together. And nails. I need to add those in, they add up quickly, kind of like the screws.

I would call around for bolt pricing, and consider buying online from a place like Bolt Depot (Google it). You will laugh yourself to tears looking at the price of hardware at most hardware stores. You can usually get a box of 25 carriage bolts for the price of 5 carriage bolts at the hardware store.

Good luck! Sounds like a good project.

Thanks. I have an account with Fastenal so I'll probably check them as well.
