Posthole Digger post hole digger for B7510

Hi, I'm thinking about purchasing a Kubota B7510 (21 hp) tractor. Wondering if this will adequately power a 9" auger in clay soil with roots (2 to 3 feet deep). Any brand info would be appreciated. Landpride and bushhog are available from my dealer. Thanks

I have clay, no rocks, and use a Speeco PHD with a 24hp tractor that would be slighly more powerful than the B7510. No problems with digging or getting it stuck. Roots and rocks can complicate the issues. If you are doing a lot of holes, then buying an expensive PHD is probably a good idea. I think I've got about $550 spent on my PHD including both a 9" and 12" auger and have drilled over 100 holes with no problems. I would think the B7510 would be fine.

Hey Moose,
Your 21 HP will be OK for pulling the auger, but lifting capacity is what matters most when digging holes. If the dirt is wet and sticky sometimes the auger doesn't want to come out of the hole. If you're careful not to let it "grab" and screw itself into the ground while digging in boggy ground you should be fine.

Thanks gabby. My soil is generally firm clay but not really wet most of the time. I've decided that tractor/implement buying is very confusing. Just working out the details of trying to get my first one and it's hard to decide what's right.
BTW, my italian spinone dog is named Moose, he's also pretty big but probably not as big as your Moose!!
