I'm new to the industry and have done only a few small jobs. Just wanted to pose a question to all about post mulching recommendations as far as regrowth is concerned. Should my clients consider having the land sprayed after mulching to ****** regrowth of the unwanted vegetation? If so will this spray application promote grass growth at the same time? Thanks.

I recommend to all my clients that they treat all newly mulched areas with round-up or a similar herbicide during the late summer or fall of the first and second seasons after initial mulching operations. Unfortionately (for them) good for me, none of them listen. My last two jobs have been mulching re-growth from past jobs. Round-up (glyphosate) will definately promote growth of herbaceous plants and grasses. Two treatments are usually required to kill woody plants such as sweetgum, elm and poplar. I haven't found anything but annual mowing to kill chinese privit.

most of what I do for mulching is getting the bigger vegetation knocked down so the land owner can come in the next year and brush hog it. not sure if that would work where you are, but that is typcially the way its done up here...
