Post & rail fence

Decided to put in a short section of rail fencing and a gate to create an area near my cattle yards.

Moral of the story is never try to put posts near a big pine tree even if the wife insists that's where she wants it. The post hole digger on the tractor didn't get more than a couple of inches down and the rest was an axe and shovel job. Took longer than I'm prepared to admit.

Included is a pic of the front of the house. Beautiful this time of year in Australia - just coming into summer.

Yea, that's a lesson we all have to learn. A long time ago, when I was younger and dumber, my M-I-L insisted that a fence had to run right through a clump of pine trees. I couldn't get a tractor in there so I did it with a one-man, hand held, motorized PHD. I ended up black and blue from the left side of my chest to my knee. That thing beat me up and threw me all over the place. I'm older and smarter now.

Excuse the silence. Away for a couple of days.

The farm is 14km from Wingham on the NSW Mid North Coast. 100 acres of old dairy country. Now we just run steers as a hobby.

The secret to the aggies is a soil mix we get from our local landscape guy. They call it Wingham Gold. Spread a bit on the beds each year and they go nuts. We take a load down to our house in Sydney every few months and get great results.

Beautiful countryside. How far are you from Sydney? I have friends in Croyden Park and have been there four times. Lots of fun to party and get crazy in my younger days. Been to the Three Sisters and Surfing up the coast a few times, but mostly just enjoyed the topless beaches.
