POULAN CHAIN SAW WON\'T START

this is a occasional use chain saw, probaly only use it about 1 hour per year, has been a great saw, used it to day and it fired right up, used it for about 15 min, and shut it down to clear debris, could not get it started again, thought i flooded it so popped the plug and let it set, then i dropped the plug, might have dammaged it and will get a new one next time i need to go to town(must conserve fuel) my question is what is the plug to be gapped at? no where in the book does it say. the plug is a CHAMPION CJY7 any ideas?

Check out a manual at a store that sells the saws.

Gap it at .030". If its going to work, it will get engine running.

I'm not sure which model Poulan and engine you have, and while .030" would probably work, I think you'll find the correct gap is .025". You can find out for sure at Champion's website.

Frank, Is this a poulan pro 235 or any other poulan with the fuel line running through the handle??

If it is I'm going to stick my neck out and say your fuel line is split!! Do you smell fuel? I've had to replace my fuel line twice on mine. First time, like you started at first and ran for a short bit then dead, (cracked between handle and carb ,got old and brittle leaked air in).

Kinda fun to replace since you have to split the saw in half and take the fuel line out through the opening in the tank fill hole because of the filter on the end.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

NO , it is a model 2150, sold out of big box stores and it even tell u it is for ocassionl use only.
does not look the the fuel line goes tho the handel, got a new plug for it today, but never got around to that job. mabey tomorrow.

Bird thanks for the link, and you were correct (AS USUAL) the gap is 25.
