John Deere 2305
I own a JD 2305 and would like to add a power angle cylinder to my rear blade for snow removal. ( I use a front mounted snow blower for deep snow) Could someone talk me thru what I need to add rear angle capabilities to the tractor side?

There really is not enough information to help you with this without knowing what you have for a grader blade.

You also may not want to bother with it as theory and actual performance may be two different things. I say that because I push snow with a 6 way bulldozer and in theory it seems that angling the blade up in one direction, and then down the other, would net a path free of snow 16 feet wide. It really does not work that way.

I can cast snow 7 feet wide in the first direction because there is some width lost when angling the blade anyway, but on the way back, I can only take half a width because at full width, as the snow pushes to the side, the snow piles up and takes the path of least resistance and starts to trickle out on the other side of the blade...on the path previously made. As the snow piles up on each side of the roadway, I have to take smaller and smaller bites, often times only pushing 1 foot wide paths down through.

In short, angling the blade only goes so far. I end up making far more passes then a person would think, but I am kind of fussy on cleaning up my little snow trailings coming off the blade too.

I am not saying you should by no means do it, I am just explaining that it may not work as good as you think it would, and with an existing snowblower, you may be better off to just not bother. But I can see where snowblowing only a few inches of snow would be frustrating too. Either way, your call.

I am not familiar with the John Deere 3025 so I am not sure what it has for hydraulics; whether it has auxiliary hydraulic ports, or power-beyond capabilities. But with a photo of the grader I am sure we can walk you through getting a power angle onto it easy enough.

I plan to add a cylinder to the rear blade to angle left/right but am unsure of what I need for the tractor side. My tractor has no rear hydraulics except the
3 pt hitch. I guess what I am asking is what I need for the rear remotes and how to control that?

You can either add a rear hydraulic setup with a control valve and outlets. Or you can connect it to your mid hydraulic outlets that your FEL and snowblower connect to. If your snowblower is like mine you are using both mid outlets, one for raise/lower and one for spinning the chute. If you fully intend on using the blower and blade at separate times then you can unplug one pair of these and plug in the blade. In practice that would be a pain in the butt.

To get an outlet dedicated to the rear you also have options. You can add a single or double spook valve and have rear outlets with their own control. Or the other option is to install an electronic diverter valve onto the outlets you already have. This will allow those outlets to connect to another function off the control you already have.

I personally installed a double spook control at the rear of my 2520. I followed a very old thread on heat for the instructions on how to do it and it cost around $500 in parts. I later had my tractor in to the local Deere dealer for a tranny repair and they were impressed with my install And kept asking where I had it done.

kevinwak, I am looking to add the spool valve so I have dedicated control of rear. You wouldn't happen to have a link to the thread you followed for your install?

This is the thread I followed to learn how to do it on my tractor. 2305 should be almost identical. Essentially it is installing a dual control valve plumbed the same way JD plumbs the backhoe

This second thread has two or three picks of my install plus a few from other guys. Most people, myself included, have installed this to be able to run a top and tilt kit, which replaces the mechanical turnbuckle like top link and side link on the three point with a hydraulic one. But essentially it is the same hydraulic control setup you need to control a rear blade angle. I wish I would have added a third valve, so I could have a spare as both of mine are used for the top n tilt.
All my parts except for one small plug from John Deere were bought from surplus center. The first thread I linked has the part number for the plug from JD

This of course all changes if your tractor already has power beyond from the factory for a backhoe. There would be two hoses to the rear of the tractor with a short hose joining the two into a loop. If you have this 3/4 of the Work is already done for you

Kevinwak, thanks for the info. It is exactly what I am looking for.

The other option I was thinking would be to use a diverter valve on the front bucket curl. I think that would work. Correct?

Yes it would. It should be really simple to install also. I think at one point in time JD might have made a diverted kit for your tractor. Maybe check out the JD parts website.
It would be pretty easy to DIY also. I would choose an electric diverter so that you list have a push button on your joystick to control between the two functions.

One question I forgot. Are you wanting to do the hydraulic angle yourself, have a Deere dealer do it or a private third party mechanic?

I will do the power angle conversion myself.
