I have a opportunity to get a set of practically new power King Takeoffs, My son works at a tire service and distributors. A customer came in Friday and had a new set of tires installed on his 3 year old camper, Said that he had a blowout and put the spare tire on just to get it there, and he wanted all the others removed and replaced along with a new spare, Said he didn't want to take a chance on the others, now remember last summer I installed some very good but low profile tires on my trailer, each time I drive over a speed-bump or anything protruding the dovetail will scrape, now I want to change them again, So I had my son to keep an eye open for a larger set of good takeoffs, Via: ( Power King tow-max st ) again they are like new, before I have them installed I would like to know is there a issue with this brand of tire? has anyone had any bad experience such as the previous owner of these had? they are a E rated 8 ply tire, No dry rot or cracks to worry about, heck many of the **** are still on, Though I am concern as to why one of them blew out,

We have had our 5th wheel for 1 1/2 years. We had all four original Towmax tires blow (at different times). The new replacements are now bad. We kept 80psi in the tires. I am very confuseed as to what the best tire is. At this time I want to sell the rig because I am tired of bad tires. What is the best and safest tire?

Had two towmax tread separations on trip to Florida. One going down and one coming back. Limped to tire store both times on tread less but aired up tires. Really messed up our trip and caused $7,000 damage to trailer. Got E load range LT tires now and have no worries. Amazing how much better LT tires are over ST. Cost more but worth it.

Both of these quotes came from rv.net in a current thread titled "Towmax blown tires" which is typical of these tires on trailers that spend most of their milage on the road. A google on ST tires or tow max ST tires has much more of the same.

Now IMO if your trailer sits around and makers short around town trip then the "blow max " ST tires may work for you.

Thanks for the information there JIG, I visit the RV site and it doesn't look like many folks have high regards for the st tow-max, reads that many issue's were due to long travel, perhaps heating of the tire and how much psi should actually be used in them,
Many had failure from 7-k lbs and heavier rv's, I also read that the rim width could also contribute to tire failure which is something I would of never thought of, and the ST 225/75 require a 6" wide rim,

My trailer with its heaviest load surely wouldn't exceed 5-k lbs. and never really pull it over 50 miles at a time, but I'd still be skeptical, with my luck I get 50 miles away and have to change a blowout:cool: I also loan it out from time to time and would hate for them to have a blowout,
I might just pass on them,
