Some power companies are giving it a try. There's still some bugs to be worked out but it sounds like it's going to go places.

I think the wireless protocols will win out.

They are on third-generation technology.
There is healthy competition.
The coverage areas are pretty wide.
Most people have a wireless device of some type.
The industry owns a pretty good range of the spectrum.
The industry can eat its own dog-food. I.E. Some companies offer cable,dsl services and now they offer wireless. They have a subscriber base to work with.
