Rake Power rake and more

I have recieved pricing on a Woods 6' power rake. Is it made by Harley ( Glen Mac) ? Is 6500 new too much? I am also looking at a King Kutter roto tiller and maybe a quick mount hydrauilic post hole digger. Any info on these items would be a great help. Thanks Guys and Gals. Have to be gender aware?

The King Kutter tillers work fine.
The best price I recieved for a 6' Harley power rake was just under $6000.
The 6' Land Pride power rake price was about the same.

Do you run a power rake? If so what brand? I was thinking of dressing my drive and others with it and do a bit of yard work. No one has one of them anywhere around here.

I have read that a 3 pt post hole digger may be touble in hard soil. Never run one. I do have front hydraulics on the L48 so thought that if I had a front type for drilling 20" holes for pole barns I may not have the trouble a rear one of this size may have. Snowing hard along the big lake (Superior).

I have a six foot Harley Rake, made by Glenmac, the pro version, with the double rollers, hydraulic angling and the retractable scarifiers. These rakes do many more things than just groom for new lawn installations. I have graded hard packed drives, spread process, spread crushed stone, and groomed ball fields and the end result is always fantastic, once you have used one you'll never want to use a hand rake again! I know that woods and some other companies are making the same style rakes as Glenmac, but as far as service I don't think anyone can hold a candel to Glenmacs service, if you have questions you can call em' up and get answers from a real person who is more than willing to help, and they will also happily sell parts to you directly, and their primary product is the power rake. Hope this helps.

I priced power rakes but never got one , decided to get a backhoe instead.
A post hole digger with down pressure would definately be better for hard or rocky soil.
I imagine hydraulic post hole diggers are pricey.

Thanks for the good info. I will ask the dealer for a price on a Harley as well, they deal those to.
It is a big ticket item, but if they are as good as you and others say, I will get much use of it.
It is nice to have you and others share the knowlege learned with myself and others. I just hope i may be able to give back to the forums in the future. I do have other questions that I must ask. Hey, If you don't ask, you don't learn?
Is a roto tiller good for recovering once grown over brush soil?
Is a hydraulic Quick Tach post hole digger or a 3pt better for 20" pole barn holes?
Does a pull type snow blower work well? I have another post out there on this question. Snowing hard here on the south shore of Lake Superior.

All of this is new to me. Any info I get is great. I had an L35 then after finding it just a bit less than I needed at times got the HST L48 and have been happy I did. I love the backhoe but need to expand the tractors potential with impements if I make some good choices.
Considering a few spring impements. I have found over many years in light construction- if you want a tool to stand up over years and work well, you pay for it. I don't mind paying a fare price for a quality tool. I may shop for a Hydraulic unit if the are now over the top.
I see you are a Kioti owner, much good said about them. A friend is pricing one now but may wait for the HST CK30 before buying. What other impements do you run?

I agree with all of the advice so far...
I can't tell you what is great and what sucks but I can tell you what I would look at.

Glenmac makes one heck of a nice product... Other's speak well of the company so that's good news in my book. I will have one, in time.

I would look at a hydraulic auger if I could swing it at all. Either backhoe mounted or loader mounted. Mounted to an L48, in theory, one could put most of the weight of the tractor on the auger for downpressure using the other end for leverage. A 3pt. basicly uses it's own weight which is not as much obviously.

If ripped first with a box blade, a tiller will work pretty well, but I would rake it, if I had a rake of course. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've never even seen a snowblower up close, so I'll defer to others on that one.

I payed about that for a T-8 Harley rake new.
