Thanks for the link - it was very helpful. I also have the 48 backhoe for the 4500. Can you get me a link for the operators manual for the backhoe? I tried to navigate thru the JD site but could not get there.

I think as long as you're reasonable it will last, I've never heard of a wet clutch on an ag tractor wearing out.

BTW On my 5455, it won't reverse over a certain speed, it will just put the shuttle in neutral and flash the reverser lights. I've never tried to go that fast, it already just spins the tires if you all going at a good clip.

I couldn't agree more. My wife's operation has a CaseIH 5140 with power reverse and they darn near comes to complete stop before changing direction. I know it's meant to handle it without stopping but the tractor weighs about 12,000lbs by itself with weighs and fluids and that's lot weight just to be going along at 5 or 6 mph and jam it into the opposite direction.

Thanks again for the links. I do have the 460 loader. I could get to some of the pages for this loader, but not the entire 460 'file' as I did for the 48 backhoe & 4500 tractor. Is there anyway to do this? Also, is there anyway to get this as a pdf file?

I only looked at a dozen pages, but had no problems with the 460 loader. I have included the URL.

On the pdf, you can order them from JD. I would go through a dealer, JD shipping is high. The operator manuals on cd are about $30. You can also check e-bay.

Just traded a 4600 for a 4520. 4600 was 12 years old with power reverser. Worked it bunches and bunches of times without clutching and in motion with never any issues. Learned quickly not to work it if tractor is moving too fast as some of the other comments indicated it jars you pretty hard when switching. The 4520 comes standard with the PW, wouldn't do without it. My 6100D also equiped with same.
