B7100 Kubota HST with a 1630 loader and I installed a cylinder on the drivers side of the tractor, installed a 5 port Eaton (Char-Lynn 291-5126-001) hydraulic steering control unit in place of the manual steering box. For the hydraulics on the 5 port Char Lynn, P=went to the passenger side and tee'd into the "IN" on the FEL control, the L and R was plumbed to the cylinder connections, and the T was plumbed back and tee'd into the outlet from the FEL. Any attempt to plumb the E port to the outlet or return to sump on the Char Lynn resulted in the tractors hydraulic system freezing up and nothing worked. The E port is currently capped and this is where the steering works the best. So to start the tractor and just drive it the steering feels like manual steering.....it works but works hard. I noticed that when I tilt the bucket all the way back and continue to hold the control there, power steering works as I had wanted. Single finger driving and it is so nice! What did I do wrong and what do I need to change so as to have power steering all the time, not just when the bucket is forced back all the way with the control? Would connecting the Char Lynn P port to the PB port on the FEL help? That was a suggestion by the local hydraulic hose shop.
