Massey Ferguson 235 with John Deere backhoe
I have a Massey Ferguson 235 (I think this is a 1975-6 model) that runs fine, but the steering hardly works. I have a new power steering pump that I plan to install and see if that fixes the problem. The steering orbital motor up by the steering wheel may be the problem instead. My question is even more basic: a auto/farm equipment store staffer has told me that I can use tractor hydraulic fluid to replace the power steering fluid that i'll have to drain/lose. Does anyone know whether this is true? I'd hate to mess up the system with the wrong fluid.

I can't speak to your tractor but I found that my MF240 does take tractor hydraulic fluid.

Here was my post...
