Power steering hydraulic fitting ID

The drain pipe on mine originates at the right rear of the lift box at the very bottom. I'm sure if your's were in the same place, you'd find it.

The drain on my JM254 was at the rear of the lift box, hopefully yours is the same. Look above and to the left of the PTO shaft.

Mine must have been made while they were switching from right side to left side... there just isn't a drain plug.

In fairness, the parts manual shows a plug on the right rear bottom, like EE_Bota describes. However, that hole is now taken by a banjo bolt with the return from the power steering.

So I'm back to either cutting the steering return hose, cutting the steering return pipe, somehow branching one of the end fittings, or drilling and tapping the tank. The problem with cutting the hose or the pipe is I'm not sure where to get appropriate fittings. The pipe has an OD of 14mm. The hose is labeled 1-10-16, which I gather implies that it is a single-ply 10mm hose rated to 16mPa (2200 PSI).

Any thoughts? I might ask in the hydraulics forum.

I would drill and tap a fitting into the tank. I would try to do it on a piece of the sump that is removable like the top link plate or suction filter plate that is on top of the sump. This way it can be take off to do so and if you goof it you can make a repair easily or replace.
