I built a 12 x 20 ft woodshop inside my new pole barn a few years ago. Just after I finished it, I noticed this big heavy dining room hutch out by the road for garbage pickup, just around the corner from our place.

It works real nice for storing my power tools. The shelf’s are made from thick tempered glass, so I got to be a little careful putting stuff in there, but it’s nice to be able to see that everything is in its place and keep it all dust free. The light inside even worked when I plugged it in.

I keep my sanders in the lower (solid front door) side spaces, and sandpaper in the lower center drawers.

Nice job Mr. Fancy.
Notice there’s an opening on the right of the middle (“curve cut”) saw shelf. I burned up the motor on my corded jig saw a few weeks ago. It was a cheap Black and Decker that I paid about $15 for at a flea market about 10 years ago. I’m leaning towards a Wen model that Amazon has for about $ 30.

That Ryobi one plus 18 volt sawzall is ok for some jobs but I really miss my corded jigsaw.

Not sure I would have thought of that. Good re-purpose! Shelving and storage cabinets are expensive.

That's the darn-purdiest tool chest I've ever seen. (y)

The price sure was right (free is always good). It is pretty handy. The glass front is the nice because there’s no wondering if the tool I need is where it’s supposed to be when I’m walking up to it.

The style fits good with the reclaimed 1880’s chestnut timber’s and barnwood that I used to make the post and beam constructed loft and shops. I salvaged all that old lumber from my great great grandfathers old barns that had fallen into disrepair.

Here’s a shot of the outside of the wood shop:

The 10x12 ft metal shop in front is open to the center part. I can keep that 20x12 ft wood shop heated comfortably during the winter with a small electric infrared heater on the warmer days or a propane heater if it’s real cold out and I want to warm it up fast.

Gorgeous, and a really nice shop setup!

Thanks for sharing it.

All the best,

Local thrift stores are packed with cheap TV cabinets that could also be repurposed.
