So I've be doing research and got some question and such for y'all:

Regarding the PT-1845:

What are some ideal ways to keep the engine for over heating?

As landscapers were kind of uncertain to the types of tires we should get, Turf or Bar? (We'd be using on lawns A LOT) or Dual Tire and single Bar or Vice Versa?

When we go to or order from Power-Trac, what questions should we ask?

DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A POWER-TRAC SLOPE MOWER OWNER HERE IN MICHIGAN?!?

And whatever else advice I should know ;) .

There are 4 easy things in my book to keeping the PT running cooler, and one I have yet to see tried.

1 - Lift the outtake cover on the top of the engine by 2" or so.

2 - Cut and hinge the side engine cover. Weld or find a thumb screw for the other side of the plate so that whomever uses the tractor can easily open the side plate.

3 - If you are buying a trailer, or have one, make sure you have an air tank installed. Having compressed air on the job site helped Alta Vista as I remember.

4 - Install screens around the outside of the tractor mesh, something along the lines of window screen

If you can't find the references to these in this group we can point you to the upgrades

5 - Install a secondary engine oil filter (suggested, but I have not seen this done yet)

If you are working slopes, I am not sure how much love you are going to get from the lawn tires. While bar tires might damage a lawn, with PT, especially the dual tires, the impact is quite minimal.

Ask Terry about who owns an 1800 in Michigan..

As for the rest, more advice to follow I am sure....

Plus the use of a larger fan.

Bottom line: the oil coolers (engine and hydraulic) are both susceptible to clogging by small chaff.

For commercial use, I would go with all around screens and a larger fan on top. I might even take the "old" fan and have it blow cool air into the engine compartment.

All the best,

Peter

I did call Power-Trac s while ago. Chris gave me the location and phone number of PT-1445 (model were still considering) in Marysville, MI. He's gonna call me back on the location of Slope Mower owner here. He's already found 5 but their Red-flagged as municipalites or people that don't want to bothered so I can't go see one there.
