While reading this article it said Power-Trac had an available Skid Steer QA for theirolder machines. This on their older late 1990s machines.
For the people with older machines (J_J) did they have then?

I have never heard anything about that, but when I inquired what it would cost to retrofit my 1445 to QA, they came up with something like $1000.

I have adapted a Skidsteer plate to use my three point Power-Trac attachments. Yes, it would be easy enough to adapt a plate to use skidsteer attachments.

What I'm wondering is it sounds like PT made it fopr their machines at one time.
I also saw that 1850 that was on eBay is back, now it's gone again after a day.
I'm still kinda interested in it. I told Chris at PT about it and how it rolled intlo a lake and he said "They only thing to worry about is the engine. The hydraulic Pumps should be ok"
"The hydraulic Pumps should be ok?" Does this make anyone else wonder?

Think about it -- that's a closed system (except for filler cap vent) that keeps all its circuits completely full of oil....

Probably got water in the hydraulic tank, but it likely never made it to the pumps before the engine stopped pumping...

So you think it'd be ok Kent?
I like that 1850 its a good price and low hours. The motor and everything else was rebuilt and Dan (the seller) said it runs great. How it keeps getting hours on it makes me think he's using it for himself so hopefully he would know if it works good. It's a 1997 machine BTW.

Lots of changes for the positive made on the 1850 line after 2001. Also, not sure how the hours are increasing either if he is not selling any implements. Not sure how many hours are added either, so if it is only a couple then it is either him tinkering with it, or accidently leaving the key on.

Do you what changes Carl? Other than the Hydraulic QA.
He's a landscaper so he might be working with it. Everytime it's on there the hours are up by usually around 10 hours added. Since its the older 3pt hitch machine if he does work with it he probably used his tractor attachments on it.

Better brake system, hydraulic treddle, updated controls,

This tractor has probably rotted for 5 to 7 years outside. All the seals may be shot, hoses rotted... Lots of work...

This said, I bought mine used and abused, and know that I saved a ton of money and it works just like a new one. I know it is going to break down, but most of the time it is due to my issues..

How many hours did yours have when you got it and how many hours now? Just curious.

I'm trying to find a used one in good condition for a good price.
You get an excellent machine but for $32,000? Crazy!

The hours my machine are not verified. I bought it with 200 hours on the chasis, and a newish engine. I have put around 200 hours in 2 years...

Saddly due to work, I probably will put maybe 10 hours on the tractor for the year...

May sell mine if business continues to tank...

So what do you mean by business continues to tank? I never heard that before.

If you do decide to sell yours, and we don't have a machine, we'd look into it.

The better question is to ask Carl (Woodlandfarms) how many hours (and $$$) he spent replacing all his rotted hydraulic hoses... and whether or not he would do it again?

When someone says (a) business is "tanking," it means he or she (or a business entity) is not doing well. Unfortunately, there are a lot of businesses tanking these days.

I have the stats on my PT. Around 28K into the purchase and transportation (includes all implements) Around 1K on tires. Around 1600 on hoses. Around 1000 in "bad purchases" meaning parts I did not need or did not fit and were not returnable. $1600 on shop welding (fixing stuff). $2K minimum on tools. Hard to say on oil, but figure a case a month for a while, plus fuel...

Time, time... Lets say mechanics rate $50 an hour (cheap mechanic, I know) I would say 25 days at 10 hours a day... 250X50 = 7500...

Yeah, I got a lot rolled into my PT...

But, when you see what my property was, and what it is. This tractor was the only way I could have reasonably done all that I have with my slopes. The tractor paid for itself in the first 2 months even with the down economy...

We're there. Business for us has dropped pretty good. Back around 2006, business was as good as ever. The 5310 was always working, and that big of tractor was needed for what we did, so was the Case 1845C Skid Steer. We had a fleet of a least 7 zero turn mowers, Toros, Exmarks (2 Exmarks had Kubota Diesels), and even a Dixie Chopper. We must have had over 100 jobs that year :) Seemed like we were working almost every day. Now everything's different, The Case 1845 is rarely used, the 5310 is too big for our needs, were lucky if we get 1 job a week. We only have 2 zero turns left, their not the Exmarks with the Diesels either:( Last year we only had about 20 jobs instead of 100 in 06'. But I think work is starting to get better. We've currently had about 4 jobs this year (this time last year we only had about 1 job). Were thinking of selling the 2 zero turns and buying a Grasshopper 725D. Hopefully we'll keep the 5310, unless this 1850 can do the work of it. Thinking about selling the Case since we almost never use it.*Sighs* Man, things are tough. It's pretty hard watching your beloved business go down :(
Sorry about the length guys.

Willie.....I don't mean to rain on your (or anyone else's) parade, but I really doubt things are going to get any better anytime soon....more likely to get worse. So, I would keep pulling in .....sell what ever is not earning its keep while there is still someone to buy it, and do not take on any more debt & pay whatever you have down if possible. IMHO this is a slow-motion crash, not just a business cycle or short downturn.

Good Luck ! !

I've been talking to a couple of local contractors. They seem to think things are picking up, although there is a rumor that the Sea Ray plant is going lay off another group of workers.

Yesterday, the Sunday real estate section of the newspaper was thicker than I have seen it in months. Maybe things are picking picking up.

I'm actually surprised by this. Michigan being one of the, if not the worst state for jobs right now. But it is way better than 2008. I'm shocked we had any jobs last year let alone 20. We've already had 4 and now maybe soon be getting contracted for a 5th job. But their small jobs, mowing, bricking, slope mowing (main reason were looking into PT Slope Mowers). From what we've made over the years ans what we still make we can easily afford a new 1850 but we trying to find a used one for a good deal before deciding to go full price on a new one ;) The Grasshopper we're thinking about to replace 1 or both of our ZTRs (we've been looking at Grasshopper and Woods Front Mount ZTRs for 2 years now) Things have been getting a lot better :)

In my little world of entertainment, Michigan got very smart and created a tax break that is only bested by one other state. Movies are going up there in record fashion. While it hurts the states initial bottom line, it is creating new jobs like there is no tomorrow, in the long run Michigan may be able to re-imagine itself. We just pulled a movie out of there and are taking it to Iowa because we could not find any local crews available.

Michigan is starting to get better as you can tell by our number of jobs are going up. We've been to dealers and their selling machines left, right, up, down, sideways, front ways and all other directions :) Only thing lacking here is a PT SLOPE MOWER THAT WE CAN GO SEE!!! Speaking of jobs, I gots to go. Lawn Mowing job today. I Get to run the Dixie Chopper! :D
I'm just curious Carl. what movie where you doing here?
