So I'm in the market for a used tractor, have been drooling over PT's for a couple years, and am getting close to pulling the trigger on something.

here's one of the more important questions for my decision making: I'm looking at a 2445, or 1530, or alternatively a New Holland TC 33D, or Kubota L3130. either with about 1000 hours, and similar sorts of prices when considering the PT's would have to be shipped, and the others could be found locally. the conventional tractors would have a mid mount mower, the PT front mount.

now the question: how is the ride quality of a PT 2445 or 1530 vs one of the conventional tractors? I realize they're not totally comparable, but they're both reasonable for my use. I need to take care of my lower back.in my early 30's I need my back to last a long time more.

uses include: grading driveway, mowing a couple acres, brush hogging a few more acres, brush hogging trails etc. light logging/firewood/landscaping use as well.

I'd run Skidsteer attachments on the conventional tractors for trenching, augering etc.

thanks for the advice ahead of time.

I've owned or used JD, Ford, Massey tractors over the years and have only used (and own) a 425. The 425 ride is "firm" because the conventional tractors had some sort of suspension seat and more (rear) tire flex that soaked up irregularities in the terrain. Also the larger tires rolled over bumps more easily. The difference in what/how the tractors perform chores are stark---I loves my PT. I'm currently researching how to soften up the seat by
adding poly bushings or short springs at the seat attachment points. :p

Those are very nice tractors. I looked at them too when I picked the Power Trac. You can't go wrong with a good machine that does the chores you need it to do. Congratulations!
