Is anyone out there using the Power-Trak Power Rake? I've been looking at the Harley power rake, but they're so expensive I'm having trouble justifying the purchase for my needs. I know that this model doesn't have the option of angling for windrowing, but I don't think that's very critical for my and the cost difference is like $4,000!

Is the Power-trak sturdy and reliable? How about servicing?

I am not familiar with them but I just checked out your link above. You do know that these are HYDRAULIC powered and NOT PTO powered, right? The Harley Rakes for tractors are PTO powered.

I'd say giving up angling would be giving up a lot of the utility from my experience.

But yeah, the things are crazy expensive. I went used

I guess it doesn't actually say, but looking at their specifications, they refer to "12 to 18 GPM required" and "1,500 to 3,000 psi". Aren't those terms that apply to hydraulic? Wouldn't it say 540 rpm if it were PTO? And by the way, Harley has both 3-PT hitch PTO driven and hydraulic skidsteer mounted rakes. Everything I read says the Harleys are great, but my problem is that they cost more than TWICE what this unit costs.

I haven't found one myself but I believe there are some rental places that carry Harley rakes (or equivalent). For a one off job that would be the way to go.

Finding rental harley rakes for a skidsteer doesn't seem too bad in most places. Even the rentals are pricey, unsurprisingly, but depends how much you'll need it.

I'd say giving up angling would be giving up at least half the value once again, making half the price less of a bargain than it seems.

Could you all expand on what the angling is useful for? I know that if you have rocks, you can push them off to the side so that they're easier to collect. How else is it used?

You'd definitely have to adapt it for use on anything but a Power-Trac tractor.

They use a proprietary QA, not a standard SS QA.

The hydraulic volume required is beyond most CUT'S too...

They sell it without a mounting plate if it's intended for something other than a Power Trac. You also provide your own hoses and couplers.

Actually, the hydraulic pressure may be too high on my machine. I was just looking at the requirements on the Power Trac web site, which are 12 to 18 gpm and 1500 to 3000 psi. My machine has 18.9 gpm and 3000 psi. I'm going to have to call them to see if this is an issue.
