I took the time after work today to start prepping for spring.
7 gallons of oil and a few filters later and i had my NH 7610s and ford 5000 serviced. I also removed batterie terminals, cleaned connectionss including grounding points ( sanded them for good metal to metal contact, greased up with dielectric compound and reinstalled. As I expected, both tractors started on the first couple rev of the crank. ( on the big diesels, I like to attach the ground cable from the battery right to the frame with one of the starter bolts, so the starter doesn't have to rely on sheetmetal (battery box) or block connections solely for ground.. )
I was happy to find that the annoying slow leak my 5000 seemed to have in the radiator that I chased alllast year seems to have gone. I'm still not sure if it was a loose hose clamp, or just evap from the non recovery system.. loss was slow.. like a quart every couple months... never saw water in oil, or oil in water, or a wet spot on the radiator or front pedistal.. so I'm almost thinking it was just overflow / non-recovery, and not an actual leak.. still.. glad to confirm this after letting it set over the winter and not find the radiator low.. Speaking of coolant i also changed out and re-dosed with the CNH fw-15 anti cavitation / electrolysis addative to keep the liners happy.
While i was changing the oil in the 5000 and 7610s.. I couldn't help but check the similarities inthe engine out.. virtually identical except for more wireing on the 7610s.. bellhousing even looks the same.. or at least similar to the naked eye..
I even took the time to change the oil in the little yerfdog CUV i run all over the property with ( overgroown golf cart type vehicle.. cheaper than a gator / mule.. etc.. )
Movedm some of my fowl around into seperate pens and also put some seedlings in the ground for a small garden.. the horses and cows keep my compost pile freshly stocked, so fertalizer was no problem.
