My wife and I have used a few of the online prescription glasses outfits. No bad experiences at all. Sometimes there is a problem but we've always had good luck having those issues resolved with minimal hassle. Most of the glasses are manufactured in Thailand or China.
I do get my prescription checked/updated at Costco every couple of years and use that information to fill out the online forms.
I've used Goggles4u.com Cost about $40 for progressives and under $10 for regular glasses in cheapest frames. They have sales all the time.
