Hi guys,

I just finished pressure washing my tractor, and I have a couple of questions.....

While washing, I noticed that besides dirt, I washed away a lot of grease from around moving parts (loader bushings, cylinders, etc). I have hit all of the maintenance grease fittings, and made sure they are lubricated, but is there anything else that needs attention?

Also, can I pressure wash the engine compartment? I would really like to remove the side panels from the engine and wash in there. I got behind the dust grille in front, the the engine itself is pretty nasty.

I also have to give a thanks to JD for a well designed loader...this is the first time I have removed it, and the process is really a piece of cake.

I don't like to use a pressure washer on my tractor. I use simple green and a spray nozzle on a garden hose.
There are differing opinions on how to clean a tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Check you owner's manual to see if there is a clutch housing drain so you can get the water out of there and keep the clutch from sticking to the flywheel and rusting. Probably center of the tractor not far back from where the clutch is located. Another good thing to do is to keep the clutch latched in disengage when you're not using it, avoids the same problem. Your hydro still has a clutch does it not? I use it when I shift from 4WD or shift ranges. Or do you have an electric PTO and ranges? My CK20HST has a clutch and a drain plug. John

Nope, no clutch at all. Forward pedal, reverse pedal, high speed/low speed selector and 2wd/4wd selector. The rest is all magic. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

As they say in the Navy, "If it moves grease it, if not paint it." It's best to keep all moving parts greased.

are u saying that when u want to change ranges, hi , lo or engage/ disengages pto, or switch from 4wd to 2wd you don't have to depress a pedal?

on the original theme of this post, i never use the pressure washer on the tractor, just use a hose and soap and on the engine area just a good degreaser with rags to keep it clean. do it once or twice a year, and it never gets so bad u need a pressure washer.

Hi Dave:

Never owned a JD, but pressured washed my 28hp Jinma with no worries....even the engine compartment.

My pressure washer kicked out about 1500 psi, so not very strong compared to some other more powerful units out there.

I'd say go for it, but keep the pressure down.

p.s. I also used engine degreaser with mine....came out sparklin' clean. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
