Been working tractor around a little mud and would like to pressure wash it but wonder if anyone else pressure washes their machine? I'm a newby and want to keep my tractor clean if it doesnt present a problem washing it this way. Any advice would be appreciated!

Some say don't, but I do it occasionally. I don't use a straight stream, but a lower pressure fan spray nozzel. I also avoid shooting closely/directly at seals, dust boots, edges of case covers/gaskets, such as where the steering upper and lower portions go together or where the valve cover meets the cylinder head. I also avoid the end of hydraulic cylinders and grease fittings so I don't inject any water into the lubed areas. I also rubber band plastic bags over the hydraulic vents and air filter intake to keep water from finding it's way in those areas. I also avoid the radiator as it is a good way to destroy the cooling fins.

A pressure washer is a usefull tool, particularly at stripping away the mud, you just have to be carefull how you use it. I have been using them in this fashion on autos/trucks and other machinery for a long time now with no ill effects.

my brother pressure washed mine a couple months back, this was the resulting effect of somehow blowing the seal on the hyd pump which ended up costing close to 300 in repairs & down time so YA stay away from them with a heavy duty spray... it was leaking a bit & had dirt on the engine ect so away he went I still haven't gotten every thing back together 100% while washing wheels sheet metal and other parts are ok stay away from gauges, engine componets alt radiator ect... just my opinion

I like to keep my tractor clean, though some others may find that amusing.

I warm up the engine a little, spray purple grease cutter (from any auto parts store) and then spray it down, engine and all.

It helps me cause I always know what needs attention, what is leaking, etc.
It only takes 5 minutes or so to do.
