LS XR4145 (45hp HST)
I don't know much about discs...my dealer has a 6 ft LS (pittsburgh) disc, 20 in discs, tube constructed.....says listed 4 2500 will give to me 4 1800. Is this a good deal? Prices are all over the place depending on make, model, etc.
Also, I'm only doing food plots and the occasional light discing to overseed my paddocks. Would a cheaper lighter weight disc be all i need or is it a "get what you pay for" kind of thing?
Thanks

What kind of tractor hp wise are you using? With a disc: weight is king. Looked at them on Rural King web site. Looks like a decent disk. However you may want to look for a used one. But buying used you need to be sure bearings and axle parts are available. Blades should not be an issue.

Over a ten year period $1800 works out to $180 per year. If I thought it would be worth that per year to have, I would get it.
Used will be cheaper, but be sure it's only used, not worn out.

Your XR4046 is an increment heavier than my Kubota L3560.
XR4045 ~~ 4,100 pounds, bare tractor. L3560 ~~ 3,700 pounds bare tractor.

Your can pull a Disc Harrow as wide as your tractor with pans 20" in diameter in all conditions. For food plots 9" pan spacing is preferable to 7" pan spacing.

If you have loaded rear tires and R1/ag tires I believe you can pull a Disc Harrow with pans 22" in diameter under most conditions. If you bog a bit on second pass you can hydraulically raise the Disc Harrow a few inches to decrease draft force resistance.

In ground engagement work WEIGHT IS YOUR FRIEND.

Well I decided to pull the trigger. Going to get the LS (Pittsburgh Taylor) disc. I figured it's a good price although more than I planned for at this time....but worth it in the long run. Stronger, heavier, last longer.
