If in good to excellent shape, with a loader, I'd say it would be $8000 minimum as an asking price and about $12000 maximum.
The 770 has 24 gross (engine) HP and 20 PTO HP. Good tractor...basically the same as the 790 and 3005 with a bit less power.

Roy's numbers here are correct and accurate except for the pto power. PTO on the 770 is 20hp@pto.
As for price, once again, I agree with Roy....$10,000, give or take.

Chris,
You might want to give your local John Deere dealer a call to verify the year of that JD770. Last year they made that tractor was 1998. Give them the serial number of the tractor located on a plate by the PTO shaft and they will be able to tell you the year it was made. You may get more info (if it has been reported stolen; what options it came with; etc) if you are able to contact the JD dealer that initially sold the tractor to its first owner (if known).

My JD70 loader on my JD770 had the original dealer sticker on it. They were bought out by another local JD dealer. I contacted them and they gave me the year made and month sold; original owner's name; that it was not reported stolen; and options.
