I am going tomorrow to look at the tractor. The tractor comes with 5 pieces of equipment, a Bush Hog brand bush hog, scrape blade, plow, spreader, and a rock rake. It has 100 hrs on the tractor. I can buy all of this for $8700. The low hours are troublesome to me. Besides checking the fuel tank for diesel gunk is there anything else I should look for especially? And of course is the price right?

for all the equipment an tractor it sounds like a real good price.but im a lil iffy on 100hrs.so when you look at it check the tires an see if they are weathered an cracked.an that the luggs arnt wore down.crank it an drive it an check the guages an see if they work.

Also make sure you won't need 4 WD because it looks like a 2 wheel drive tractor. That is something to consider and will effect the resale value.. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Oh, the pics weren't there when I posted. Still a good deal, but would have so much better had it been 4WD...

I to am skeptical about the hours being correct. I am keeping an open mind until I see for myself. I would like a 4wd but everybody got buy with two wheel drive for years. At 64 I cant see chunking a bunch of money down for new and I am not going to wring the guts of this 2wd either. I am gonna use it for gardening and driveway grading and some bush hoggin. I expect I might do a lot more when I get used to it. I got so I couldn't find anybody to plow my garden so I am using that as a justifiable reason to buy the tractor :thumbsup:. It is my first tractor. I got a farmall cub but it is limited as tools to work with are just not around anymore.
Would I be better off having the tractor buy somebody or trying towing it my self.
If I do I will be baptized in the fire as I have not done much towing of trailers. It is mountainous and the 50 or so miles of I-40 has some steep grades and sharp turns between Tennessee and N Carolina. Then I got the mountains again from Waynesville NC to almost Gainsville GA. Its about 150 miles one way. They just announced that I-40 was open again after the two rock slides last week. One of these day that road is going to fall into the Pigeon River.

I got by with a 2wd L245 for years. It'll do ya fine!

I would not let the low hours bother me and would consider it a plus. Should be able to tell if the hour meter works by driving it and it should be easy to tell from the condition of the tractor if it only has 100 hours on it.

I bought a 1999 model tractor recently that only had 122 hours on it. It looked like new and you could easily tell that it had never been used much.

If I had owned the tractor since 1999 it would probably not have over 200 hours on it. There are lots of people like me that have enough land that you need a tractor to properly maintain it but doing that will not put many hours on it.

Here is the update about the tractor. The tractor looked fine I just didn't like the looks of the fella selling it. I know we aren't supposed to let personal feelings interfere with business, but I reckon that is one of the benefits of gettin old. IF you don't like what see then ya don,t. So I will keep lookin on Craiglist and iIwill find sumpthin that tickles my fancy sooner or later. I do sincerely appreciate every response to this thread. Thank You all.:thumbsup:
