JD 4410
Okay, I've been reading these forums for months, absorbing as much information as possible. I am now looking to purchase my first tractor. I'm looking at a 4410, FEL, R4s, and 60" MMM. So far the best price I've seen has been $21,500. Is this a good price?

The price above is also for the smaller R4s, and here is my question about MMM with R4s. The dealer is trying to steer me away from the larger R4s because he is afraid that I won't be able to fully raise the mower deck with the larger tires. Is there really a clearance problem? Should I consider a RMM if I want the larger tires? Thanks for the help.

1. Your price looks good, compared to what I am getting quoted.

2. I can see his point on the clearance, although I have no way of verifying it - it seems reasonable.

3. It may well be that the RMM is better for you. It sure is a lot easier to maintain, although the MMM has advantages...

Question? Why 4410? I thought it was the one for me, but research here caused me to look more closely at the 4310. The hydraulics, weight and everything else are equal to the 4410, just the HP/Torque slight differance. Do you see something I don't? Cause I am sure that I would rather get the bigger unit now, rather than wish I had....

Actually, I had been looking at a 4610 or 4710, but my research here led me decide on a smaller tractor for most tasks that I need to do now. I'll probably purchase a larger ag tractor for the larger jobs in the future.

Thanks for the advise on the 4310. I looked over the specs, and now I'll definitely check the price difference between that and the 4410. A few HP and a little torque isn't worth a large difference in price.

Same for me! Let me know what you find, if you do find a compelling reson to go 4410.

One real clincher to me is that the 4310 hydraulics match the 4410's

I wore myself out comparing every spec on every major brand to try to get the best bang for my buck. I ended up with the 4310 E-Hydro, FEL, and a rotary shredder. BUT, I must admit my father in law picked up his JD 5420 4WD, FEL, the day before I bought mine. YES, this influenced my decision to not buy a bigger machine. If I need a bigger tractor, it's 8 miles away. There are times when I wished I had a bit more HP. The hydro tranny takes up a bit of power but after having it, I would NEVER be without a utility tractor that has it. Its just too darn handy, mowing in between tight trees, loading, blading or whatever. Hydro is worth the money. My father in law is wishing he had EHydro but they don't offer it on the bigger stuff like his.
